Gorinka Shrivastav started singing at the age of eleven; initially with her mother, Mrs. Aparna Hattangadi, who was a Rabindra Sangeet singer and then eventually went on to learn Hindustani classical from Smt. Sneha Ketkar and Shri.Rathin Sarkar. She also learnt Ghazals from Pandit Vithal Rao ji of Hyderabad who was considered to be one of the few maestros of 'Ghazal' and was the court singer of the last Nizam of Hyderabad. Gorinka strongly believes that learning never ends and is now under the tutelage of Dr. Pooja Goswami in Minneapolis.

Gorinka has sung a duet with Hariharan in the Hindi movie Bollywood Calling directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. She has also sung in a Telugu movie called Manasutho. She has made demo CDs of various well known English and Hindi cover songs by collaborating with music director Ashirvaad and P.A.Deepak, mix engineer for A.R.Rehman's Slumdog Millionaire. She was also featured in an article as a promising budding artist in “The Hindu” newspaper.

Gorinka has been singing professionally in small and big community events in Minneapolis since 2003. She has organized and sung for the Big Brother Foundation fundraiser in 2015. She is well versed in both Indian and Western style of singing and also has a flare for singing well known ghazals as well as her Guruji's original Ghazal compostions.  Presently she resides in the Minneapolis with her husband and three children.
